The goal of phase 1 is to lose weight, change the body chemistry and eliminate cravings for sugars and starches. This phase lasts about 2 weeks. The 2nd phase is about obtaining your desired weight and the 3rd phase is a maintenance plan, designed to keep your current weight.

Atkins Diet
Also known as the low-carbohydrate diet, this approach restricts carbohydrates to allow one's metablolism to switch from burning glucos to burning stored fat. There are 4 phases to the Atkins Diet, each focused on limiting the amount of carbohydrates consumed. The Induction phase is the first phase and usually results in loss of 5-10 pounds per week if followed correctly. The other phases continue the plan, continuing with the low-carb approach

One of the more simpler diet types is the Low-Calorie Diet. With this diet, you simply cut the amount of calories that you consume each day. Most of these diet plans cut your calorie count down to 1000-1500 calories per day (the exact amount depends on your weight and activity level). This type of diet allows for no more than 1 pound per week, after the first 2 weeks when weight loss may be more rapid due to the initial water loss.

Detox Diet
A diet plan which attempts to remove your body of potentially toxic substances. These plans involve changing eating habits to eliminate foods that are hard on the metabolism, such as caffeine, alcohol, processed food, salt, sugar, etc... This diet instead emphasizes on eating pure and natural foods that aid the function of major body parts (liver, kidneys & lymph) Believers of this diet claim it increases the amount of energy you have, improves your health, digest and aids in weight loss. Many others criticize this diet saying that the detox diet is less effective that simply drinking water.
